Leather bound with black paper photo pages. 10" x 12" Oblong. Approximately 400 gelatin silver print photos. The photo album of Charles James Kittredge (Hotchkiss class of 1912) of his time at The Hotchkiss School (elite private prep school). Most of the photos were taken by Kitteridge. Excellent notations including names, dates and place. Many photos of athletes and athletic events, including Hotchkiss Football Team 1909 - 1911, the track team, baseball and hockey. Undocumented 1911 photo of American writer/poet Archibald MacLeish, who was a classmate. These photos capture the personality of the subject as well as the photographer with many candid and informally posed shots. Very crisp clean photos. Also includes Kittredge's summer between Hotchkiss and Yale; as well as photos from Kittredge's first year at Yale, including photos from the April 1913 reception of President Taft when he joined the faculty at Yale. Kittredge graduated Yale in 1916 and served in WWI. Item #31358
