Tall Octavo, original stiff card-stock, glued to cardboard, oil or acrylic media. Rare original jacket artwork for this adventure novel from the 1930's. Signed by Salter horizontally at left of image. Salter was one of the most influential and widely respected dustjacket artists of the 20th Century. Between 1922 and 1934 Salter produced over 350 different designs for 33 different German publishers, several of these jackets became his trademark and greatest legacy. After immigrating to the United States in 1934, Salter continued his professional advancement so that by the end of 1940 he had produced approximately 185 book jackets and at least 30 magazine covers since arriving in the United States. A lovely example of Salter's subtler works, pencil notations at margins and verso of board. Item #16876
