Early or First American Edition. Original yellow printed wrappers. Stevenson's nautical adventure novel was originally published in England with advertisements dated July, 1889. Charles Scribner's Sons was the authorized American publisher of the novel and printed their first edition in the same year. This copy with Oct. 21, 1889 date at front wrapper possibly precedes the Scribner's edition. In any event, an uncommon pirated edition of this work published in the same year as the first. Very Good plus copy, fragile wrappers with few edge chips, only minor loss to spine paper, yellowing pages with tear to lower title page from miss-cut page, corner of one page margin chipped.
