The Amateur Gentleman. London: Sampson Low, Marston and Co., 1913.

Second Impression. Hubin listed mystery. Farnol's most lasting contribution to the field of historical adventure and mystery novels concerning a young man who inherits a fortune and who uses that money to instigate a number of adventures and intrigues. Basis for several film adaptations, the most memorable being the 1936 talkie directed by Thornton Freeland and starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Elissa Landi. This copy with seven line inscription signed by Farnol at front free endpaper to the members of the Y.M.C.A of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in the year 1914. The circumstances leading up to Farnol inscribing a book for a YMCA in Pennsylvania would no doubt be an interesting anecdote. Very Good tight copy, wear at spine edges, spine ends with tiny cloth breaks and wear.
