First Edition. Illustrated with photographic scenes from the play starring Alice Brady which opened at the Greenwich Village Theatre. Drama that is "thoroughly American". The story is set in a small rural community "during the progress of one of the religious revivals so "characteristic of our countryside." The focus is on a young woman who becomes an Evangelist hostess and enters into a love affair with the revivalist that leads to a path of adultery, murder, and madness. Not found in Hubin. Hurlbut co-screen wrote Bride of Frankenstein (1935). Near Fine in Very Good plus dustjacket with mild fading to spine, shallow chipping to spine ends, and wear to top edges.
