True First Printing, and First Photoplay Edition, illustrated with scenes from the United Artists film starring Dolores Del Rio and Edmund Lowe. Marseilles set romance and crime novel (with stills of characters in a courtroom and prison) of an American seaman "conqueror of the fair sex, who for once finds he is up against his equal in 'The Bad One'." A very scarce photoplay title, the first copy we have come across. Near Fine but for a zealous contemporary bookseller who has stamped in large letters at the title page "Gimbels will not be undersold", in Very Good dustjacket, few nicks and short closed tears, wear at front flap edge.
