Nautical adventure novel of a sailor who travels the world where "voyage follows voyage, girl succeeds girl, sunset follows storm, skippers change, ships change, and Jack Lassan grows to manhood... a vision of dark eyes under a mantilla and above a fan, looking over a balcony in Rio; a golden god of a swimmer reared in the surf at Hawaii; a white-haired negro swinging a machete in the sugar cane...".
