Original 8 by 5 inch, Navy Yard, Boston, Mass. blind stamped stationary. Interesting culinary interest ephemera item, a short letter signed by Philip Andrews, Rear Admiral of the Navy to Emile Furrer, the Chief Pastry Cook at the Copley-Plaza Hotel, dated March 22, 1930. The admiral thanks Monsieur Furrer for the sugar model of the Constitution (the ship not document) which was exhibited at a dinner in the Admiral's honor. "It was a marvel of artistic work" Andrews writes. The dinner may very well have been Andrews retirement party. He was a decorated veteran of the First World War and later Commander in Chief of U.S. Naval Forces in European Waters. Very Good condition.
