First Edition. Tall octavo, original plum cloth, silver illustration to front cover and silver spine titles, in original Charles Cullen dustjacket, illustrated throughout in black and white. "A series of intimate conversations among the courtesans of Rome, pertinent to their then respected calling" (from panel). Lucian was a Greek rhetorician and satirist, and one of the early novelists in Western civilization. Near Fine with small bookplate to front endpaper, in Very Good dustjacket, shallow chipping and tears to edges, 2 inch tear to lower front flap edge with accompanying creases mended with clear tape to verso.
