First Edition. Coleman dustjacket art. Notable Hollywood fiction title concerning a "small town general store clerk who goes movie-mad... and [who] is delighted with his sudden rise to stardom [as an actor] until he sees himself on the screen in his first picture". Found in Anthony Slide's The Hollywood Novel. The novel was quickly adapted into a Broadway play by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly and served as the basis for successful 1924 silent film directed by James Cruze. In 1947, a sound film version was made starring Red Skelton, Virginia O'Brien, and Gloria Graham. Near Fine, some mild foxing to page edges, in Very Good dustjacket, darkening to lower spine, mild scrape at rear panel, small chip at lower spine end, few nicks to edges.
