Basis for the 1939 black and white film starring, Joan Bennett and John Hubbard. This copy nicely inscribed and signed by Clarke at front endpaper, "For Rubye Lutey / (Miss California of manicurists)..." Near Fine in nearly Very Good dustjacket, some surface erosion at panels, chipped at spine ends.
