First Edition. Romance novel set in Greenwich village about a young New York City reporter who, along with his roommates, falls for the housekeeper's daughter. Basis for the 1939 black and white film starring, Joan Bennett and John Hubbard. This copy nicely inscribed and signed by Clarke at front endpaper, "For Rubye Lutey / (Miss California of manicurists)..." Near Fine in nearly Very Good dustjacket, some surface erosion at panels, chipped at spine ends.
