Item #26313 A Lost Leader [GOLF MYSTERY]. E. Phillips OPPENHEIM.
A Lost Leader [GOLF MYSTERY]

A Lost Leader [GOLF MYSTERY]. Boston: Little, Brown and Co., 1907.

First Edition. Fred Pegram illustrations. Hubin listed mystery with golf elements perhaps most collected today for its golf scene at front cover. "Mr. Oppenheim has here taken for his hero a modern leader who has elected to stand aloof from the conflict of the political world, but he has created a strong, distinct personality, and not merely exploited one already familiar. 'A Lost Leader' is as fascinating a story of modern life as any novelist has yet conceived, and one that arrests the mind by its fie strenuousness of purpose." This copy in original printed dustjacket which unfortunately does not feature Pegram's golf scene. However the jacket for this book is an extreme rarity. Near Fine but for ink signature heavily erased away at front endpaper, in Good dustjacket, centimeter deep chipping along top rear panel, nickel sized chip at lower spine end and top front panel, shallow chipping at spine ends and flap corners.
