The American Bar Guide. Toledo: Libbey Glass Manufacturing Co, 1933.

Second Edition. Title page states that the first edition was printed in 1885, but more likely this present printing in based on the 1895 edition self published by Miller in St. Paul. Original green cloth, stamped title and illustration of mint julep at front cover, octavo, 83 pages plus ads. From the introduction: "The art of mixing drinks has been lost, as it were, and the man of today will, without the use of a proper guide, experience difficulty in preparing a drink that at one time was much sought after by those who were patrons of the best hotels and clubs throughout the country. All of the formulas given herein have been tested many, many times by the Author in his many years of experience and to the man who is catering to the public or the man in the home who would give his guests the best to be had, he will find this volume most welcome. A number of the formulas herein are from the best hotels and clubs of Germany, France, England, Spain, and all Europe, as well as the best in America." An uncommon title. Very Good, lower fore-edge corner of first four leaves including title page which also has a half inch closed tear at lower edge, some mild dampstaining at pastedowns.
