The Path of the King. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1931.
First Houghton Mifflin Edition. First published in 1921 by George H. Doran. Odd novel constitutes Buchan's attempt at tracing Abraham Lincoln's ancestry, rationalizing that a great man such as Lincoln could only have sprung from such a humble people if his forebears where of good stock. Buchan's fictional ancestry goes back to a Normandy Chieftain, a French Knight, friend of Jeanne d'Arc, and a soldier of fortune under Marlborough. Wonderful dustjacket art of Lincoln standing before a Viking ship. Near Fine bright copy in Very Good price-clipped dustjacket, some shallow loss at spine ends and flap corners.
