Oblong quarto measuring 11" x 7" string-tied, burgundy stamped leather over stiff paper boards. Photographs mounted on the blank black leaves, each is captioned below the image. Contains 126 glossy black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 2" x 4" and 6"x 4". Photos are not dated, but appear to be mid 1920's. The subject of the book is a U.S. serviceman - likely Army Air Corp due to amount of Air Force related photos. The first half of the album shows the man and his friends and family visiting many sites in the western United States: San Francisco, Nevada, Yosemite, and Merced. Later portions show him in Cincinnati and Kentucky. The second half of the album covers his time stationed in Hawaii and includes many photos of fellow servicemen in uniform, the base, and the surrounding historic Hawaiian sites including Hilo, the Mormon Temple and extensive photos of his visit to Kilauea volcano. The album ends with pictures dated 1923 San Francisco and the U.S. military base on Angel Island. The album and leaves are in very good condition with very little rubbing or chipping; the majority of the photos are in excellent condition, although the Hawaii photographs are somewhat faded, the images are still defined.
