The Woman in the Case, Souvenir of the 200th Performance, with Mr. Herbert Sleath's Compliments

The Woman in the Case, Souvenir of the 200th Performance, with Mr. Herbert Sleath's Compliments. London: Greening and Co., Ltd, 1909.

First Edition and First Theatre Edition, with stills of the actors at dustjacket panels. Original red illustrated cloth with gilt. A. Morrow cover art and frontis. Gull's novelization of a play original written by Clyde Fitch and which also served as the basis for several early films. An interesting mystery story found in Hubin in which the wife of a man accused of murdering his friend investigates the alleged crime and discovers that her husbands former lover set him up to take the blame for what was actually a suicide. Extremely uncommon in the dustjacket, which is either the only one produced for this novelization or is a special produced jacket celebrating the 200th performance of Fitch's play. A Very Good attractive copy, mild dampstain to lower rear cover, foxing to early pages and to page edges, in Very Good dustjacket, some nicking and wear, expected soiling to white panels.
