An unusually scarce recipe book with recipes for Soups, Fish, Meats, Vegetables, Salads, Pickles, Breads and Cakes, and Desserts. Some more specific recipes include Okra Gumbo, Crab Jambalaya, Barbecued Pig, Jambalaya, Fried Chicken, Waffles, Cup Cake, , etc. In the Miscellaneous section Knowles includes recipes for three alcoholic drinks: a Mint Julep, Egg-Nog and Peach Blow. Judging from the cover art the author may have been mistakenly identified as African-American but research of the dedicatee, her niece, reveals that she was a white author. Very Good but for having been bumped at fore-edge of front cover which has cut into the cloth some, but lettering bright, in Good edge chipped dustjacket, with small chip at mid front panel and at front flap edge as well as mid-spine.
