Very Good, signs of a bookplate having been removed from front pastedown, original owners name and address at front pastedown and top title page, few pages of first signature a bit uneven - perhaps indicating it was long ago reglued, rear yellow endpaper removed, rear inner hinge shows webbing and a bit loose. Very scarce scratchpad notebook produced by Balto, Badge as an advertisement piece for Dr. Siegert's Angostura Bitters - "imported from South American - The Only Genuine". Front and rear of notebook contains 64 pages of cocktail recipes under the title "Standard Mixed Drinks - Recipes for Mixing Fancy Drinks"" and includes West Indian Swizzle, Gin Fizz, Manhattan, Absinthe Frappe, Remsen Cooler, etc. Balto, Badge & Novelty Co. produced pinback buttons using "Celluloid", a high quality compound used for printing that made the advertisements more durable and vibrant in color. Extremely scarce cocktail recipe guide (of 103 recipes) by this Cuban-American bartender at the Anvil Club in East Dundee, Illinois and at the Villa d'Este in Cary. No copies located on WorldCat and is not mentioned in Bande's obituary (born in 1932 in Varadero Beach, Cuba). No publication information is printed, but if Bande was possibly in his 40's when publishing his book of recipes, one can guess a printing date in the 1970's. Includes a nice introduction about Bande's career in bartending and his finalist award in a national drink mixing contest sponsored by the American Society of Bar Masters. Includes a frontis of the author and his introduction. Includes such drinks as Rafael's Daiquiri, Happy Pete Daiquiri, One For the Ditch Cocktail, Adios Muchacho, Paradise Island, Enrique Bande Punch, Carlos Bande Cocktail, etc. Very Good. Item #40699
