Teddy and Towser, A story of Early Days in California. Philadelphia: Henry T. Coates and Co., (1904).
Presumed First Edition. An uncommon young adult's novel and number 1 in the Strange Adventure Series. This copy with Coates title page, and author listed as Seward D. Lisle. However the publisher listed at the spine is Winston and the rare illustrated dustjacket lists this title, Teddy and Towser by Edward S. Ellis and is a John C. Winston dustjacket. Presumably Lisle is an psydonym for Ellis and was originally published by Coates. The sheets from this edition were purchased and bound by Winston who added their own dustjacket. A scarce early Ellis title in any event. Near Fine with cover art bright, in illustrated dustjacket, Vermont shaped chip a few inches deep at lower spine end, else Very Good.
