By Right Of Conquest. Arthur HORNBLOW.

By Right Of Conquest. New York: G. W. Dillingham Co., (1909).

First Edition. Archie Gunn and Charles Grunwald illustrations. Adventurous romance novel of a young woman who finds herself shipwrecked on a deserted island with a man who detests women as much as she detests men. Basis for the 1919 black and white silent film, The Isle of Conquest, directed by Edward Jose and starring Norma Talmadge in her 23rd feature film. Very Good, innocuous previous owner stamp exhorting borrowers to return book after 5 days at front pastedown and front endpaper, some foxing to page edges, top fore-edge of pages with area of minute loss to corners, in scarce Very Good illustrated dustjacket, printed slightly shorter than the book as was the practice with Dillingham, with soiling, shallow spine end chips, few inch closed tear at lower rear spine edge.
