Lewis's extremely elusive third book and only second novel under his own name. Although not a critical or popular success, The Trail of the Hawk provides important insight into Lewis's development as a writer, a craft he would later demonstrate his mastery of in such works as Babbitt, Main Street, and Elmer Gantry. Nearly Very Good, cloth mostly split along front spine edge, first few pages almost detached from text block, piece of scotch tape at top rear spine edge.
