Albatross. New York: D. Appleton and Co., 1932.
First Edition, Advance Review Copy in original printed wrappers. Australia set novel. The story of a man who as sole survivor of an Antarctic expedition was charged with grave dereliction of duty. He goes through life struggling to live down the stigma of such a charge to succeed financially in order to be independent of his luxury loving wife's wealthy family and above all to convince himself that the charge was not true. Eventually he does succeed but the reader feels the bitter pain of all the preceding years. Very Good, soiling to page edges and to wrappers.
