Item #27123 Turnabout. Thorne SMITH.

Turnabout. Garden City, New York: Doubleday, Doran and Co., 1934.

Early Printing, "17th Printing" plug at top front jacket flap. Howard Trafton dustjacket design. Humorous Bleiler listed fantasy novel of a married couple for whom "the great God Ram does a little malicious mixing of sexes". Smith examines with deadly and pyrotechnical effect such things as suburban life, cocktail parties, advertising agencies, big business men, church suppers, lying-in hospitals, commercial hospitality and marriage. Despite being a later printing, this title is difficult to find in original Trafton designed dustjacket (which in this case differs from the first issue jacket by listing two extra titles at rear panel and with printing plug at top front flap). Basis for the 1940 Hal Roach production, starring Adolphe Menjou, John Hubbard and Carole Landis. Very Good, some discoloration to cloth, ownership address at front endpaper, in Very Good price clipped dustjacket, shallow edge chips.
