Extremely scarce novelization of Maugham's play produced at the Comedy Theatre in London in 1909, directed by Dion Boucicault and starring Marie Lohr, and later Irene Vanbrugh and Robert Loraine. The play was originally published in 1913 by William Heinemann and Dramatic Publishing (in Chicago). Smith deals with colonial society and a man who falls in love with a parlor maid. Maugham is listed as co-author on spine and front panel of dustjacket but not the title page.
