Octavo 11 x 8 1/4 inches. Hand painted paper covered boards bound with metal rings. Valera E. Hannis, graduating high school, during the Great Depression, 1934, Bayville, Ocean County, New Jersey. In her manuscript (21 leaves) written upon completing high school, the young woman (b. 1916) included a bit of family history and 34 black and white snapshots primarily of family, at home and visiting family in Pennsylvania. Laid in are a school report and her baccalaureate service program. Binder cover illustrated with an ink and watercolor drawing.
