From the preface: "A new compilation of Recipes for American Iced Drinks has for some time been urgently called for owing to former publications being now out of print. It would have been possible to obtain from fresh sources various Recipes, but after consideration it was thought better to reproduce those of a well known Expert whose knowledge and experience it was felt could not well be improved upon, and to whom due acknowledgments are hereby tendered.
