Author is considered the first French woman writer to gain a major reputation. Consuelo was Sand’s masterpiece. Ownership signature of Anna Wharton Morris, prison reformer and author (whose papers are at Swarthmore), and daughter of Joseph Wharton, the industrialist, founder of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, co-founder of Bethlehem Steel, Swarthmore College, etc. 'Pear Hill J.W.' stamp. Very Good, shows wear to spine and edges, but firmly bound.
