Bercovici's gypsy stories were used three times to make motion picture films, including: Revenge, The Volga Boatman, and Law of the Lawless. Born in Romania in 1882, the author's own childhood was spent in the tents of gypsy's. Bercovici is quoted, "There is not a gypsy in the world who cannot tell you who I am. I am a gypsy by choice and not by blood, by temperament and not race." Great unsigned dustjacket art of a woman gypsy in three tones.
